Bioeconomy VVU
Understanding the Bioeconomy. Accompanying research on the bioeconomy model region in the Rhenish Revier region.
The Bioeconomy VVU project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and ends on 30.09.2026. It accompanies different funding projects for the establishment of the bioeconomy region Rhenish Revier in various ways.
The Chair of Economic Geography deals with the topic of the resilience of the economy in the Rhenish Revier. Structural change requires fundamental restructuring in almost all sectors. At the same time, the Rhenish Revier has a high potential of bioeconomic developments and spatial proximity to other industrial sectors, such as chemistry along the Rhine. This represents a great opportunity to link sectors to bioeconomy.
The economy in the Rhine area can also react robustly and adaptably in crisis situations. An existing indicator on resilience will be tailored to the specific situation and the expansion of the bioeconomy in order to learn from the structural change and to be able to react flexibly.
